NoonFox: Onboarding
Thirty-three versions to lock one first-run flow: sign-in, AI consent, four use-case screens over real messy-home photos, and a price that took three rounds to say plainly.
⌕
- The locked flowThe pricing line locks to 3.12 ( A fair price, so NoonFox keeps getting better: mission, improving forever, and the price promise: it will not go up), and with it every decision in the flow is closed : first screen 0.1, family share 2.1, moving 5.1, storage 6.2, insurance 7.2 with Est. prices, blurred passport 8.1 with a constant bubble, login Snap it. Find it., reminder Back to the trial screen, four scenes final. The options sections are gone; this page is the complete spec for the native promotion. The price promise is recorded in the copy advisor as a committed forever-promise. Open →
- The pricing line, in the founder's words. Three decisions lockedfirst screen stays 0.1, the four flow scenes are confirmed (picture decision closed), and the pricing screen moves to the founder's own text: A fair price, so we can keep improving NoonFox , with the mission and a price promise. Four versions along those lines (3.11 to 3.14), 3.11 wired in; 3.13 carries the grandfathered form of the price promise (the one that stays keepable if new-user pricing ever changes). 3.1 to 3.10 retired. Open →
- Dead simple, from screen oneThe founder set a new register, now written into the copy advisor: dead simple for everyone, an 80-year-old reads it once and gets it, no puns, the AI magic shown through the plain result rather than said. First change: screen one now states exactly what NoonFox does: snap photos of your home, garage, storage unit; AI recognizes every item; search and know exactly where everything is. Wording options 0.1 to 0.3 below the flow. Also: pricing option 3.8 retired ("No ads" is not a committed promise; ads may come), replaced by 3.10, with the note that 3.5 is the register-safe pick. Open →
- The picks, wired in. The v29 selections integrated into one journeymoving-day labels re-centered dead on the items (grid-measured), five numbered storage boxes (6.2), the priced insurance claim cards (7.2) retitled Insurance claims, ready in minutes , the passport bubble held constant instead of popping, and the login tagline cut to just Snap it. Find it. Pricing copy was rejected in full, so five fresh directions (3.5 to 3.9) sit below the flow with the strongest, We work for you , wired in. Still open: the pricing number and the picture picks. Open →
- Ten fixes and a variations galleryExecutes all ten feedback points on v28. Bubbles repositioned onto the actual items (kettle on the kettle, toaster on the toaster, laptop on the laptop). Learn-more titles sized like the earlier screens, serif with orange: Own your moving day , Finally in orange, and so on. Sealed storage boxes get numbered labels (Box 21 · Ski clothes). Insurance bubbles become two-row claim cards with model and serial. The passport screen becomes a blurred close-up with the expiry bubble and the we-do-not-save-personal-information line. New login color spec. The reminder Back button returns to the trial screen. Below the flow: a numbered variations row per feedback point (numbers outside the screens), so every decision is a number to send back. Two options carry a ⚠ for claiming what the app cannot do today. Open →
- The two we were missing, and honest claimsAdds the two use cases the set was missing, and they are the most relatable: everyday essentials (keys, wallet, glasses, the daily five-minute search) and the shared household (your spouse finds the passports while you are at work). Gallery is now twenty-four options. Also corrects two claims checked against the app source and found false: NoonFox flags things as expiring soon, it does not remind you (no notification system exists yet), and there is no value field, so labels use serial and brand instead of invented prices. Open →
- Pick the pictures, and better captionsTwo things. Captions are now a short bold benefit header plus a normal-weight explanation ("Finally know what's in your storage unit", then how it works) instead of a solid block of bold. And below the full onboarding is a Pick the pictures gallery: twenty photoreal scene options across storage, moving, insurance, documents, kids and garage, each with a suggested caption and payoff-style labels (where / when / value), so you can choose which image goes in each use case. Scenes and labels are tuned to what NoonFox's five buyer personas said would sell them. Open →
- Real fixture photos, bubbles popping inThe four use cases now play over real photoreal scenes generated through the marketing capture pipeline's own image generator, with recognition bubbles popping in on top: a dense field across the packed storage unit (the whole thing indexed), the kettle and mugs on moving day , the TV/laptop/camera/watch for an insurance claim, and the passport with its renewal date. Next step is to run each fixture through the real app AI so the bubble labels are the app's actual detections. Everything else stays exactly v17. Open →
- Learn more leads with the big use casesThe Learn more examples are now the website's real reasons to use NoonFox, four screens: Moving day (43 boxes, one search finds the kettle), Storage units (know what's inside without driving across town), Insurance proof (every receipt and serial in one folder), and Passport (renew before the trip). Then the mission + pricing screen, its line re-tuned to echo the new examples, with Start a 3-day free trial and Remind me later. Placeholder tiles for the photos. Everything else stays exactly v17. Open →
- Remind me later, with a capture screenThe closing mission and pricing screen gets a second button, Remind me later , which opens a small capture screen asking for a phone number and email (you need at least one). It is a stub for now; the source carries build notes to save these leads into a marketing database once we research whether that belongs in the same Supabase as production or a separate instance. Everything else stays exactly v17. Open →
- Learn morethree examples, then a mission. The pricing screen's second button is back to Learn more , opening a fixed four-screen sequence: three real-life examples (passport so you never miss a flight, warranty you can find when it breaks, receipt saved to claim it), each with a Next, then a closing screen about our pricing and mission ("Stay organized. Live a little lighter." / $3.95 a month) with the trial CTA. Placeholder tiles stand in for the photos. Everything else stays exactly v17. Open →
- Examples gallery, shown in pairsNew approach to the use-case examples. The pricing screen's second button is now See examples , opening a gallery shown two at a time: the first of each pair has a Next , the second offers Start a 3-day free trial or See more examples (which loads the next pair, looping at the end). So every second screen is a chance to convert, and the examples are an editable list we can keep adding to. Seeded with six (passport, warranty, paint, wine, toys, valuables); the tiles are placeholders for photos we will shoot. Everything else stays exactly v17. Open →
- Login tagline + a real AI explainerTwo changes on v20. The login tagline is now two serif lines in the fonts we always use, with orange where it fits: "Snap it. Find it." above "Never lose anything again." And the AI consent's Learn more is no longer a stub: it opens a real screen that walks through what happens to your photo (snap, sent to Gemini, named into items), says plainly that AI is required for the app to work, and lets you Allow right there or go Back. Everything else stays exactly v17. Current build spec to promote. Open →
- Login, welcome & consent refinedThe login moved to a cream screen mirroring screen one (no icon, NoonFox in the serif we always use); the welcome shortened to a free-for-now line; the AI consent tightened to one paragraph with Allow plus a Learn more secondary. Refined further in v21. Open →
- v17, exactly, plus the login. Exactly v17the same snap and search videos, the same sharing, pricing, welcome and AI consent, all unchanged: with the login screen added at the free-trial tap (a cover sharing the pricing dot). Refined further in v20. Open →
- The shipped app, back in HTML (superseded by v19)A native rebuild that changed the snap photo and rebuilt the search in CSS. Set aside in favor of v19, which keeps v17 exactly. Kept for reference: a real drawer photo with recognition bubbles, the scripted chip and result pills, the restyled cream sign-in, welcome, and AI consent. Open →
- All the way throughtrial, welcome, consent. The flow now runs past the pricing close. Tapping the free trial leads to a warm free-for-now welcome ("You are on board. Welcome.": no card, no charge while we are testing), then a redesigned AI consent screen wearing the onboarding's own cream, ink and orange. Sharing copy tightened to "Set up family share with one tap." The search chip is being re-rendered to sit just below where you type. Open →
- Sharing screen, with wordsSame animated flow as v15, but the sharing screen now explains itself: under the headline, two sentences ("Sharing with your family or housemates takes one tap. From then on, everyone can find anything anyone snaps."). The search highlighter is still the one open call, playing in motion below. Open →
- The flow, animatedThe whole five-screen flow moving, with the chosen two-tone cap-with-icon pill, the connector lines thicker and running straight up, the people icon, and the pricing close. And the last open call, the search highlighter, shown in motion two ways side by side: the two-tone chip (consistent with the result pills) and the focus ring (quieter). Pick one and the flow is done. Open →
- Two-tone refined, plus the search highlighterThe chosen two-tone pill, now fully pill-shaped with a clean rounded orange cap and no dot; connector lines run straight up onto a dot at each value. Two pill versions (cap with a small icon, or a clean block) plus a stacked take with the line behind. And finally the redesigned search highlighter in three takes: focus ring, underline, or a matching two-tone chip. Open →
- Pick the pill. Course-correctedthe leader lines connecting each result value to its pill are back (they were the good part), drawn thinner and landing on a small dot at the word, values only. The only open question is the look of the pill itself, so four takes to choose between: White, Outline, Glass, Two-tone. Still frames so the pill design reads clearly. Open →
- Elegant calloutsPeople icon locked in. The search callouts, the weak spot, were rebuilt to feel refined: soft cream cards that match the app's own surfaces, small icons instead of the words "location" and "container", a gentle highlight on the actual value, even spacing, and a cleaner typing indicator with a focus ring. Grounded in current callout practice (soft elevation, 4/8pt rhythm, icons over labels). Two takes to choose from, cards or minimal. No em dashes. Open →
- Refined, and choosing the sharing iconThe chosen search treatment (a callout that shows what you're typing and stays put), slowed down to read; a cleaner pricing close ("A fair price, so we keep building forever", $3.95 per month); the small sharing line dropped for large text only; and no em dashes anywhere. Plus a set of family-share icon options to pick from, including the NoonFox fox. This is the near-final guided-lane spec. Open →
- Solid Plate, five screenspriced and purposeful. The chosen finalist (Solid Plate) refined per feedback: " Snap a photo " instead of "one snap", a bigger/tighter hero paragraph, a search screen that makes it unmissable where you're typing (magnified query), a warmer "share with your family or housemates" line, and a new fifth screen: the honest $3.95, locked forever price closing on a 3-day free trial . Three variants differ only in the search-typing treatment (glow / loupe / bubble) and the sharing icon (pair / household / network). Open →
- Refined FinalistsSolid Plate & Floating Card, polished. The two v8 finalists (9a Solid Plate, 9c Floating Card) with the round of fixes: a fifth item bubble on the charging cable; the search now pauses and highlights the result with light safety-orange callouts fanning out to the location, container, and last-seen time; the explainer text is vertically centered; and the flow ends on a proper Get Started / Learn More close. Both live: button / swipe / arrow keys. Open →
- The Overlay StudyPorcelain, refined for legibility. Acts on the v7 call: keeps Porcelain , but the snap screen now stays on the full captured photo while the four item bubbles pop up in place (keys, batteries, scissors, tape measure): no jump to a separate image screen: then straight to search. And the explainer text never sits on the busy part of a photo: four ways to draw its zone: Solid Plate , Gradient Veil , Floating Card , Ink Caption: each live (button / swipe / arrow keys). Pick the overlay; it becomes the rule for the real onboarding. Open →
- The Walkthroughthree live onboarding prototypes. Not a film: the guided deck itself, working: four screens (Never lose anything again → snap-and-label loop → search ending on living room · top drawer , a location set in the real app today → Family Share), advancing by button, swipe, or arrow keys. Three design registers side by side: Porcelain (light editorial), Cinema (text over full-bleed footage), Momentum (chunky sans + progress bar). The winner becomes the build spec for the real onboarding's guided lane. Open →
- Five Cutsthe ten-second story, polished. v5's flaws fixed for real: six different live captures (workbench 8/8, board games, shelf…) so the timeline looks like a home, item labels pinned to the actual objects with leader dots, a four-word caption on every beat, a shutter flash you can feel, fast search, and a brand close. Five edits of the same footage: Faithful / Montage / Question / Calm / Household: pick the one that earns "I'm gonna give it a shot." Open →
- The Ten-Second Storythe fundraising cut. The whole product in 9.7 seconds of real footage: snap the junk drawer → the production AI names the items (baked-on bubbles quote its actual output) → search "scissors" finds it → Family Sharing closes the loop. Cinema-dark page, beat strip synced to the film's clock, downloadable MP4 for decks and DMs. Cut from the same live run as v4's receipt. Open →
- The Receiptthe decided direction, proven live. v3 argued the flow; v4 shows the machine running: an uncut live capture through the production pipeline: real shutter, real upload, real AI naming 8 items in 33 seconds , findable by search 54 minutes later. Ledger of database timestamps, the 8 item names verbatim, each locked v3 decision mapped to the evidence, and an explicit what's-real/what's-staged box. Recorded the day the four-day capture outage was actually fixed. Open →
- The Hybridthe decided direction. Takes a position on all four open calls: camera-first by default with a one-tap "show me what this does" guided escape (both lanes merge at the first snap); reverse-trial paywall placed on the shared spine; a real 4-option "what brings you?" question where each answer changes the run; and a dedicated path for the "I lose things constantly" brain (faster, capacity-framed, wall deferred). Fork→merge flow diagram, decision recap, and an honest money-shot capture status. Open →
- Camera-Firstthe minimalist counter-take. Opens straight into the camera: no welcome deck. Coach-marks over screens; sign-in & paywall deferred until value lands. Dark, capture-forward, with real app screenshots + a live screen-recording and an honest trade-off table vs v1. Open →
- The Guided Flowresearch-backed hybrid. The recommended 11-beat flow with a live snap→AI demo, the research (and paywall myths), hard-gate vs reverse-trial, a "what brings you?" persona question with an ADHD branch, plus real app screenshots + a live screen-recording. Open →

The exploration opened as a standalone lab in July 2026. Those four original pages are kept here: the lab, the flow, the research, the paywall and the personas.
