אֵמוּן A matchmaker, not a directory

Describe who you need. Meet two or three you can trust.

You never browse a list of strangers. You say it plainly — in a chat — and a curated short-list comes back, each intro carrying who vouched and what they said. Curation over volume. Zero empty searches.

בְּחִירָה The difference in one screen

A directory makes you do the searching. A shadchan does the trusting for you.

Search a directory yourself

The old way

  • Twelve tabs open, comparing strangers you can't vet
  • Anonymous stars — no idea who actually hired them
  • Empty searches, dead categories, guesswork
  • You carry all the risk of a bad hire
Describe it once

The shadchan way

  • One message: what you need, remote or local
  • 2–3 people a real client would stake their name on
  • Every match arrives with the named vouch attached
  • A peer already took the risk — and vouched anyway

Miriam's voice note

I started Ateret because Jewish organizations deserve design as serious as their mission. My favorite projects are the ones where the campaign becomes something the whole community feels proud to share.

חֶסֶד How each profile is made

Two sources, in order — the trust layer first, the warmth layer second.

A vendor can't write their own way in. The profile is built from the people who hired them, then softened with the vendor's own voice.

1

The client interview

A short, structured conversation with the client who hired the vendor — the reference. Their name and org are on it. This is the part that's hard to fake.

  • What was the need?
  • What did the vendor actually do?
  • What changed — the outcome?
  • Would you hire them again, and who should?
The trust layer
2

The vendor's voice note

Later, the vendor records a short note about what they do and their favorite project. Auto-transcribed, kept visually apart from the client's words — this is warmth, not proof.

Others in the shadchan's book

You'd only see these if your need called for them — never as a wall to scroll.

An honest read

Where this direction wins, where it loses

Where it wins

  • Kills choice-overload — 2–3 trusted intros beat 40 listings nobody vets
  • Native to how this community already talks: a WhatsApp introduction from someone you trust
  • Every match lands with the named vouch attached, so trust travels with the intro

Where it loses

  • It doesn't scale without a curator — a real person (or a very good model) has to make each match
  • Less serendipity: you meet who fits the ask, not who you might've stumbled on browsing
  • Thin categories feel empty fast — if no one's vouched, the shadchan has nothing to offer

Sample profiles shown are illustrative.
