Not sleep music this time. Two beds with a tune and a sense of walking, under the whole of episode 1 — the treated version, opening and all. Each one is levelled and checked exactly as a real episode would be, so what you are hearing is a version that could ship, not a demo.
The two full episodes below were rebuilt today. In the first version the music stopped dead twelve seconds before the story ended and the last words played over nothing. It was a bug in the code that repeats the music to fill a long story: it filled everything except the final stretch. Nothing else about them has changed, so the comparison you are making is the same one. The version with no music was never affected.
Episode 1 with the storybook music, the one you picked, has been rebuilt the same way and now ends with the music resolving over the last three seconds instead of cutting out.
Seventeen minutes each. This is the real test: a bed either survives a whole story or it does not.
A bed with a tune cannot be as safe as a drone. The quiet ones we tried before sat far clear of the children’s voices because they had no melody to get in the way. Push these to that same safety and they turn back into a pad. So the choice is real: more character, less clearance.
Turning the music down does not fix it. Measured across nine decibels of attenuation, the clearance barely moved. What matters is the SHAPE, not the level, so each of these has one narrow cut carved out of it — in the same range your own opening already leaves empty, which is why the opening never buries the kids either.
The music does not play under the opening. Your voiced opening is still sounding when the story starts, so there is nowhere to hide a fade. The bed begins at the join, out of the story’s own room tone.
