You heard the bed repeating, and you were right to. It was half a second of
room tone tiled eleven hundred times. This uses the room that is actually in the recording.
The fix is simpler than the thing it replaces. The real room was never missing —
it was sitting in the channel we were throwing away, alongside the rustle. So instead of
discarding it and manufacturing a substitute, keep it and hold down only its loud parts.
The room then varies for the whole episode because it is the room. A loop cannot
exist, because nothing repeats.
What it touches. The ceiling engages on 9% of the episode — the loud
minority, which is the rustle — and never cuts more than 18 dB. The other 91% comes
through untouched, so the room between events keeps its own texture and level. Verified:
quiet stretches away from any known event measure the same before and after.
Your twenty-four verdicts on the discarded channel made this safe to do: every one came
back only noise, fine to lose. That is what licenses working on that channel at all.
nothing playing
Play a few minutes of a whole episode for the loop question —
a repeating bed reveals itself over time, not in a three-second clip.
